We are looking for someone to join their Warehouse volunteer team to help keep the premises clean and tidy. The person must have a “can do” attitude and be happy to work within a busy warehouse environment. The tasks will include duties such as sweeping and mopping the floors, emptying bins, washing them out with hoses, collapsing cardboard boxes ready for recycling and general tidying up and cleaning of crates and boxes.
The applicant will be joining a great team of volunteers, who sort and pack the emergency food parcels; a task that you may wish to join in and help with too if you have the time and wish to do this.

Swindon Food Collective is an independent charity that serves people in Swindon and surrounding areas who are experiencing financial hardship and struggling to provide food for themselves, their families or dependants. Our services are needed now more than ever and in the last year, we helped nearly 11,000 people, of which over a quarter were children. Our committed Board of Trustees is seeking a new Chair of Trustees with strong leadership and business skills who can take the organisation forward for the next stage of its development, building on the solid foundations already established. The Chair of Trustees upholds our values and mission and provides leadership to our organisation, building on the strengths of our trustees, staff and volunteers to create a stronger organisation for the benefit of the families and individuals we support.
We estimate a time commitment of 10-15 hours per month, although as a small charity, there will be times when the Chair will need to be actively involved in the work of Swindon Food Collective beyond preparation and attendance at monthly Board meetings. This may require meeting with funders, business planning, and advising on operational or other issues in which the Chair has special expertise.
This role is unpaid however reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, and administrative support will be available if required.
Please email us at admin@swindonfoodcollective.org for a full role description and application instructions.
Closing date is 6th August 2023.
Our warehouse teams remain small and working 5 days a week to keep up with demand and effective warehouse management of stock rotation. We are very thankful that we have also been supported by some external teams from different companies such as Amazon, Rotary, Nationwide, ESRC, Good Gym, Bellamy Wealth, Verelogic, Excalibur and personnel from the 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, Larkhill.
All our teams have helped us sort the Harvest and Christmas donations, make up hampers, move stock from the warehouse to the external storage facility and quarter the stock so that it is used before the expiry dates.
